1. What is a rubber desiccant? 

A rubber desiccant is a functional additive specifically used in the rubber production process. Its primary function is to absorb residual moisture from the rubber raw materials or during the mixing process, preventing defects such as bubbles and cracks during the vulcanization stage. This significantly improves the physical properties and durability of rubber products.

2. Why is a rubber desiccant necessary?

Rubber raw materials or fillers easily absorb environmental moisture during storage and transportation. This moisture vaporizes during high-temperature vulcanization, leading to surface defects (such as bubbles, pinholes, and cracks), performance degradation (reduced tensile strength and wear resistance), and process losses (incomplete vulcanization and increased scrap rates). Desiccant can fundamentally address these issues by chemically or physically absorbing moisture.
